EUMAM Mozambique
The resolution PESC 2024/1354 amends 2021/1143 as the Council of the European Union has considered necessary for this transition from EUTM MOZ to EUMAM MOZ..
The main tasks of EUMAM Mozambique are :
- Provide mentoring and advice to the Mozambican Armed Forces (FDAM) on operational planning, logistics and maintenance.
- To monitor training in the regeneration of the Rapid Reaction Force and the use and maintenance of equipment provided by the EU assistance measure, in order to contribute to operational effectiveness, force sustainability and compliance with international humanitarian and human rights law.
- Provide specialised training for the Rapid Reaction Force of the FDAM..
Cabo Delgado es la provincia más septentrional de Mozambique. Desde 2017, la provincia se vio afectada por el aumento de los niveles de violencia vinculados a las acciones de los grupos armados y a los ataques reivindicados por el Estado Islámico. Como resultado, la situación humanitaria y de seguridad se deterorió, causando sufrimiento a la población de Cabo Delgado y amenazando la estabilidad de la zona y su desarrollo económico.
La Unión Europea puso en marcha una misión de formación militar en Mozambique (EUTM Mozambique) a raíz de una solicitud del gobierno mozambiqueño para apoyar a sus Fuerzas Armadas (FDAM) mediante una misión de formación y capacitación.
EUTM Mozambique fue uno de los instrumentos de la UE para hacer frente a la crisis de Cabo Delgado. Complementó los esfuerzos más amplios de la UE en materia de consolidación de la paz, prevención de conflictos y apoyo al diálogo, asistencia humanitaria y cooperación al desarrollo.
El 1 de septiembre de 2024 se produce la transición de EUTM Mozambique a EUMAM Mozambique.'Cabo Delgado' is the northernmost province of Mozambique. Since 2017, the province has been affected by increased levels of violence linked to the actions of armed groups and attacks claimed by the Islamic State. As a result, the humanitarian and security situation deteriorated, causing suffering to the population of 'Cabo Delgado' and threatening the stability of the area and its economic development. The European Union launched a military training mission in Mozambique (EUTM Mozambique) following a request from the Mozambican government to support its Armed Forces (FDAM) through a training and capacity building mission. EUTM Mozambique was one of the EU's instruments to address the 'Cabo Delgado' crisis. It complemented the EU's broader efforts in peacebuilding, conflict prevention and dialogue support, humanitarian assistance and development cooperation. 1 September 2024 marks the transition from EUTM Mozambique to EUMAM Mozambique.
The Spanish Armed Forces have participated in the EUMAM Mozambique mission with two military observers to collaborate with the European Union in its fight against international terrorism and demonstrates the experience and capabilities of the Spanish military to carry out this kind of mission.

- September 1st. The EUTM MOZ mission is renamed EUMAM MOZ.
- May 20 th. Relief of personnel deployed on the mission.

- November 17th. Relief of the personnel depelegated from the mission.
2022
- September, 9th. EUM-MOZ declared Full Operational Capability (FOC).
2021
- October 15 th. The European Union establishes the EUTM-Mozambique mission.
- July 12th. The Council of the European Union (EU) adopts the decision establishing an EU military training mission in Mozambique (European Union Training Mission - EUTM Mozambique).
