The Spanish Armed Forces are deployed in 18 foreign missions with more than 3.000 soldiers and civil guards in four continents. The largest contingents are settled in Lebanon, with 610 Blue Helmets, and in Irak, with 480 troops. Inside the NATO framework, they are watching the Mediterranean Sea and take part in the Baltic Countries and Turkey defence.
Spain is also involved in all the EU military missions leaded in the African continent, with deployments in Mali, Center African Republic, Somalia, Senegal and Gabon, as well as in all the operations to avoid human traffic at the Lybian coast or the piracy at the Indian Ocean.
