Frigate 'Numancia' escorts the World Food Programme ship 'African Falcon'

  • The frigate, currently within Operation Atalanta, escorts the ship for 10 hours during its transit through the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea 

The Navy ship, part of 'Operation Atalanta' under national operational control of the Operations Command, is escorting a World Food Program ship for the second time on its mission. On this occasion to the 'African Falcon', for whose location she had to go to the northern waters of the Gulf of Aden.

The frigate also carried out flight operations with the AB-212 belonging to the 3rd Aircraft Squadron for early visual identification and the establishment of communications with the ship 'African Falcon'.

Later and finishing the escort, the ship 'African Falcon' continued its route towards the Red Sea, while the Spanish frigate headed south to continue its patrol in the Gulf of Aden.

Within the framework of the Atalanta operation, one of the main objectives of frigate "Numancia" is to ensure the safety of vulnerable ships of the World Food Program (WFP) in their transit through the waters of the Gulf of Aden.
