'Viespe' detachment receives Spanish ambassador to Romania

• H.E. Ambassador José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano has paid a working visit to the Air Force detachment, which is carrying out an air police mission under NATO command

Working visit of the Spanish Ambassador to Romania, José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano to the Borcea-Fetesti Air Base where the Tactical Air Detachment (TAD) 'Viespe' is deployed.

The Ambassador was received by the second Chief of the 86th Borcea-Fetesti Air Base, Colonel Bogdan Zvonaru, and by the Head of DAT Viespe', Lieutenant Colonel Gonzalo Tortosa Méndez.

During this visit, the ambassador had the opportunity to converse with the representative of the Romanian Air Force, and to learn the details of the operation that 130 components of the Spanish Air Force, together with 8 EF-18 fighters from the 15^th Wing of Zaragoza, have been carrying out on Romanian soil since 1 DEC 2022, under a NATO mandate. Their presence is part of the Spanish response to the Allied demand to reinforce the presence and functions of surveillance, deterrence and air defence on the Alliance's eastern flank.
