Handover ceremony at the Adazi base presided over by Brigadier General Carlos Prada Larrea. The eFP X contingent (enhanced Forward Presence X) returns to Spain after six months being part of the Battle Group led by Canada. The incoming contingent, the eFP XI, will continue its work.

During the transfer of authority ceremony, the head of the Latvian Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Colonel Sandris Gaugers, and the deputy head of Task Force Latvia, Lieutenant Colonel J. Gauvreau, decorated the personnel of the outgoing contingent for their work.

The head of the eFP X contingent, Lieutenant Colonel Fernando Fuentesal García, thanked the work carried out by the Spanish troops during the ceremony, highlighting their commitment, dedication and effort. During their six-months-deployment their capabilities were reinforced given the existing situation in the East of Europe. The handover ceremony ended with a tribute to the fallen.

During this activation period, the Spanish contingent has shown its high level of training, involvement and dedication within the different exercises in which it has participated.

The 'eFP' mission celebrates 5 years in Latvia since a multinational Battle Group deployed in 2017 aiming of deterring any attempt of aggression against Latvian territory. In recent months, Spain has shown its commitment to the Atlantic Alliance and its allies in Eastern Europe, reinforcing its military capabilities and providing new weapons systems.
