UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander pays his first official visit to UNIFIL’s Sector East Headquarters at Miguel de Cervantes Base.
Before heading to the base, General Lazaro held a meeting at the Ett Taibe Town Hall attended by the mayor of the town and the mayors of El Adeisse, Kafer Kela and Houla. The General was accompanied by UNIFIL’s Sector East Commander, General Melchor Marin Elvira. The meeting covered a number of topics concerning the current situation in southern Lebanon.
On his arrival to the Base he received the honours of ordinance and greeted the Heads of Unit and staff of the General Headquarters.
Afterwards, General Lazaro visited a civil-military cooperation activity (CIMIC) that took place at the 'Miguel de Cervantes' Base, with the participation of various traders from the Sector East area of responsibility which is led by Spain. After sharing lunch with members of the Headquarters and Heads of Unit, General Lazaro received a briefing from the Head of the Sector, covering aspects of personnel, logistics, security, operations, plans and civil-military cooperation.
Following the presentation, the visit concluded with the Force Commander's signature in the BRILIB XXXVIII Book of Honour.
