Personnel from the Engineer Unit of the Spanish contingent led a training workshop on response and risk management to any potential explosive threat, aimed at the units of the UNIFIL's Multinational Brigade of Sector East and members of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The main goal set by the Spanish sappers was focused on teaching basic procedures for responding and dealing with any explosive threat. To achieve this objective, a first theoretical phase began with a graphic showcase of the main devices, shells and ammunition existing in the sector, as well as the possible IED threat present.

Thereafter, a series of security procedures were developed under explosive threat, concluding the conference with an activity in which all the knowledge acquired for the detection and transmission of the information necessary for the elimination of the explosive threat was evaluated.

Another of the objectives achieved was to strengthen cooperation and ties, not only between the Sector's Units, but also with the Lebanese Armed Forces, whose members expressed their gratitude for the efforts made during these days. They have reiterated the great usefulness they derive from them, allowing them to learn procedures intended to reinforce the security and protection of the components of their Armed Forces.

The conference, which took place over four days, from March 14th to 17th, ended with a ceremony in which the Chief of the UNIFIL Brigade of the Eastern Sector, General Ramón Armada Vázquez, presented a diploma of recognition to all military participants.

The head of BRILIB XXXVI, in his speech, thanked everyone for their efforts, both UNIFIL and Lebanese Armed Forces personnel, and encouraged them to continue with this type of joint activities direct at creating an atmosphere of trust and improving the stability of government institutions in the area.
