The ‘Canarias’ frigate holds the Medals of Honour awarding act on its way back home

·       After four months and a half of the operation Atalanta deployment, Crosses of Naval Merit and of Good Service have been awarded.

The ‘Canarias” frigate has held the traditional act of reading Criminal Laws and awarding of Medals of Honour on its way back to Spain, after having been deployed for four months and a half in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean waters, within the framework of the operation Atalanta.

In this ceremony, the commander of the vessel, Commander Ernesto Grueso García, has been in charge of awarding the Crosses of Naval Merit, with white decoration, and the Crosses for Good Service, with bronze and silver decorations, to the vessel personnel who deserved it.

Furthermore, medals for the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) have been awarded to those members of the frigate in reason of their work and dedication in the operation Atalanta.

The commander has congratulated and acknowledges the attitude of the vessel personnel during deployment, which will come to an end on 18th November when the vessel arrives to the Naval Base of Rota.
