Transfer of authority of the Estonian Air Defence Unit to the NATO takes place.

• Its integration into the NATO structure is now complete after a period of preparation and deployment, and it is ready to carry out its mandated tasks.

The Spanish Air Defence Unit (UDAA) deployed in Estonia, after achieving Initial Operational Capability (IOC), has been transferred to the NATO chain of command. It is integrated into the structure of the Alliance's Air Defence System and will be able to perform the tasks assigned to it.

This process began on home soil, with preparations for deployment to the Baltic country. The arrival of the equipment from Spain at the port of Paldiski marked the beginning of the deployment of the Spanish contingent in Estonia. A commission had previously travelled to carry out the work prior to the arrival of the material and the rest of the personnel that landed at the Amari Air Base, southeast of Tallinn, from the Gando Air Base on the island of Gran Canaria.

The Spanish UDAA, made up of 100 military personnel from different units belonging to the Canary Islands Command, and which uses the Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment No. 94 as its generating unit, will carry out its tasks at the Amari Base belonging to the Estonian Air Force. From there it will support the units of this country, a member of the Atlantic Alliance, in training its components in the use of the NASAMS anti-aircraft system, thus enabling the Baltic country to develop its own defence capabilities.
