On the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day, the Spanish contingent deployed in southern Lebanon within the UNIFIL mission has organized a sports activity in which women have been the protagonists.
Based on sport as an activity of union between peoples, the Spanish contingent organized, on March 6, a seven-a-side soccer match between a national team and a local women's team. The match was played in the municipality of El Fraidiss, a town near the 'Miguel de Cervantes' Base. The match was animated at all times by Spanish soldiers, the Indian contingent and a large number of Lebanese.
Although the victory corresponded to the Spanish soldiers, which was the least important thing, the festive atmosphere of the stands was transferred from the beginning to the playing field, where it was possible to enjoy a match that shone by the fair play of all the players.
The event was presided over by the Head of the Multinational Brigade of the Eastern Sector, General Ramón Armada Vázquez, who was accompanied by different political officials from the area, including the president of Al Arkoub Municipalities, Mohamad Saab.
