UNIFIL's Spanish contingent hands over donated sports equipment to school in Kafer Kela

  • The outfit has been donated by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria's Sports Institute 

Commander of the Spanish Light Protected Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Santiago González, has handed over the sports equipment donated by the Sports Institute of the Cabildo Insular de Gran Canaria to the principal of the Kafer Kela public school, Fatín Fauaz.

During his speech, LtCol. González appreciated all the support and collaboration received by the school management to carry out the delivery of the equipment, as well as the great effort made daily by all teachers for their students, despite the harsh economic situation that the country is suffering, being this effort and dedication vital for the future of Lebanon.

He also acknowleged the Sports Institute within the Cabildo Insular de Gran Canaria, since their donation contributes to improving the quality of life of the Lebanese children, who are the reflection of the future of Lebanon. This kind of aid, donations and projects, together with the work of the teachers, are essential for the development of the new generations and Lebanese youth.

The Battalion Commander also extended his gratitude for the presence of the representative of the town council, Haj Mohammod Tawil, and to the entire population of Kafer Kela, for the warm welcome they always extend to the Spanish contingent, the ties of friendship between the population of Kafer Kela and the Spanish military are essential.

The event ended with a game and competition in which not only the children of the school took part, but also members of the Spanish contingent deployed in Southern Lebanon.
