The Ukrainian students of the 7th edition of the HAWK Training Module, which is provided by the 74th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment (RAAA 74) of the Spanish Army at the ‘El Copero’ base (Seville), were visited by members of the United States Air and Missile Command (AMCOM), as well as experts in the HAWK missile system from the Romanian Air Force.
During the visit, they witnessed first-hand the organisation of the HAWK training courses, which aim to train the crews of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in both the operation and maintenance of the system.
These international authorities have highlighted the professionalism of the training staff, their high level of expertise and their strong commitment in providing training to Ukrainian staff.
One of the members of the delegation was the Ukrainian military attaché in Spain, who took advantage of the occasion to express his sincere gratitude to our country for the support it is providing to Ukraine.
EUMAM UA, support to Ukraine
On 17 October 2022, Council Decision established the EU Military Assistance Mission in Support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine). Its objective is to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to defend their territorial integrity. To date, 24 EU Member States have offered training modules and personnel to the Ukrainian Army.
In Spain, the Toledo Training Coordination Centre (TTCC) under the direction of the Operations Command, to which it organically reports, manages training activities. This centre coordinates its activities with various international structures, not only within the European Union but also within the framework of multinational agreements. Since the beginning of this European mission, Spain has expanded the modalities of the courses, which are now given in different units of the Spanish Armed Forces.
The TTCC consists of a Headquarters in Burgos, from which the Combat Training Unit (UFC) in Toledo and the Training Modules (TM) depend, that are activated to provide training in the requested areas of specialization. These courses take place in the facilities that the Armies and the Navy have in a number of locations throughout Spain.
The Spanish Armed Forces have extensive experience in training personnel from the armed forces and security forces of other countries, including Iraq, Mali and Somalia.
