Four of the seven training modules being developed within the framework of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Support to Ukraine (EUMAM UA), aimed at training Ukrainian military personnel in Spain, have been concluded.
Among the training modules that have been finalized is the one dedicated to maritime interdiction operations, which has been given by the Navy's Marine Special Forces, located at the Algameca Naval Station in Cartagena.
Through this course, the Ukrainian soldiers were trained in the planning and conduct of this type of operations, in addition to acquiring skills in obtaining and processing intelligence through images. In addition, they were trained in the treatment and evacuation of casualties and in the capture and transfer of captured personnel. All in all, the course dealt with key aspects to improve the operational efficiency of the Ukrainian military personnel.
Secondly, the training on instruction and training in planning and execution of military actions in urban environment was completed in Almeria. The Ukrainian military personnel of the module of Military Operations in Urban Operations (MOUT) have received this course in 'Alvarez de Sotomayor' base facilities by military personnel of the VIII Flag 'Colón', of the Tercio 'Don Juan de Austria' 3º de La Legion.
Thirdly, the M-113 maintenance training module was completed at the 'Menacho' base in Bótoa (Badajoz). In this case, it is mainly oriented to transmit maintenance knowledge, both in the unit itself and in its logistic units. In addition, they have carried out driving practices and application of vehicle recovery procedures.
During the last week, technical personnel from the ‘Agrupación de Apoyo Logístico n º 61’ of the Spanish Army in Valladolid have trained the Ukrainian soldiers. In this module, the assembly and disassembly of the engine, the gearbox and the transfer box, as well as tests such as the engine power test, have been carried out in depth.
Finally, the first level of the training on humanitarian demining was completed by the personnel of the International Demining Center of the Army Engineer Academy, located in Hoyo de Manzanares, Madrid. The same personnel will now start the level 2 training module.
Trainees in this module have acquired skills in explosive deactivation. In this context, the Ukrainian military personnel have carried out procedures for locating, exposing and, where possible, destroying in situ individual elements of mines or unexploded wrecks.
With the exception of the students of this EOD level 1 course, the military personnel have returned to Ukraine after completing their training in Spain.
