During this training period, within the framework of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM-UA), the Arapiles Combat Training Unit has trained this group of Ukrainian soldiers in offensive and defensive combat, as well as in combat techniques in built-up areas.
These activities were carried out on the manoeuvre field annexed to the barracks, which has complete facilities such as shooting ranges, battle positions, trenches and various buildings that have met the needs of this type of training.
They have also been instructed in basic tactical combat casualty management procedures, which have been integrated into individual combat training, and thus providing more comprehensive training to soldiers.
The Arapiles Combat Training Unit, composed almost entirely of military personnel from the Infantry Regiment that gives it its name, has fully committed to training Ukrainian soldiers to carry out the inherent tasks of a combatant and thereby aiming to facilitate their future integration into their units.
For its training activities, the training unit has benefited from the participation of a group of interpreters, as well as from the use of the barracks’ facilities, which has provided the Ukrainian soldiers with accommodation and basic needs.
The Basic Training module concluded with a military ceremony in the parade ground of the General Álvarez de Castro Barracks, presided over by the Lieutenant Colonel Chief of the UFC ARAPILES. During the ceremony, diplomas were awarded to the Ukrainian soldiers who successfully completed the Basic Recruit module.
