- Ukrainian military trained in advanced geospatial information production techniques and procedures
Within the framework of the EUMAM-UA mission in support of Ukraine, several groups of specialists have already been trained at the Army Geographic Centre in the form of cartographic training modules. Through these training modules, Ukrainian military personnel are familiarised with the geospatial data model "Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program - MGCP". At the end of their training they will be familiar with and have practiced with the system and tools for quality control of data in MGCP format, as well as the subsequent production and editing of cartographic products and maps at a scale of 1:50,000 derived from them.
The geospatial modules are eminently technical in nature, in the field of geographic and cartographic engineering applied to military operations.
Naturally, during these courses there is also a close coexistence between the Ukrainian and Spanish military, creating bonds of camaraderie and respect. The result of this was, for example, their presence at the celebration of the feast of the Immaculate Conception on 8 December last, CEGET's Unit Day.
The act of homage to the Fallen was particularly moving, with a special mention of the dead and victims of the aggression against Ukraine. The most senior officer of the Ukrainian contingent laid the laurel wreath at the monolith together with the head of the Training Unit.
However, this module taught by CEGET is not the only one that our Armed Forces currently carry out. They are carried out at the request of the Ukrainian government, in compliance with the commitments signed by Spain.
For its organisation, the Operations Command (MOPS) relies on the structure of the TTCC which, from its headquarters in Burgos, directs and coordinates the activities carried out by the units of the three armies.
Some of them do so on a permanent basis, as is the case of the Army's Combat Training Unit in Toledo, and others, such as the CEGET, provide specific courses to meet the demands formulated by Ukraine.
