From 29 June to 3 July, Spain will host the Fourth UN International Lecture on Financing for Development in Seville, which is expected to be attended by a large number of heads of state and government.
The Air Operations Command (AOC) is responsible for establishing the presence, surveillance and control measures necessary to guarantee the safety and protection of airspace during the lecture. To this end, direct coordination between the Air Operations Centre (AOC) and the coordination centres of the State Security Forces and Corps (FCSE) is essential, which contributes to the early detection of any air threat that could endanger the security of the event.
The forces involved, led by the MOA, will have air defence capabilities, including modern drone detection, identification and intervention systems. These forces include the participation of fighter aircraft, helicopters and refuelling aircraft belonging to the Air and Space Army (EA), an Air Defence Unit belonging to the Army and an F-100 frigate from the Navy. In addition, a network of EA visual observers will be activated in support of the ESF and a NATO early warning aircraft (AWACS), which will contribute to the reinforcement of air surveillance.
The Operational Air Command (MOA) is the body within the operational structure of the Armed Forces responsible, at its level, for planning, conducting and monitoring the aforementioned airspace operations. Its participation in the IV International Conference on Financing for Development of the UN shows the high joint capacity of the Armed Forces to contribute to the security and defence of Spain, through the synergy of its units and in permanent coordination with the different State Security Forces and Corps.
