  • The exercise highlighted the importance of communications as the backbone of modern military operations

Military personnel from the Army Command and Signal Command conducted a Cooperative Security Activity (CSA) training exercise in Dakar. They focused on deploying communications networks and IT systems with the Senegalese Armed Forces.

The exercise gathered officers and NCOs specialising in signals from several Senegalese Armed Forces units. They have a technical background and want to expand their knowledge in areas vital to modern command and control systems.

Instructors tailored the course to participants’ needs, aligning it with prior knowledge and joint objectives. Key topics included Command and Signal post organisation, satellite communications and tools for small-unit command and control.

They gained an in-depth understanding of military communications network structure and operation. They explored procedures and technologies that improve information transmission and decision-making during operations.

Practical sessions covered digital command and control tools and applications with a wide range of functionalities.

Secure, rapid, effective communication is essential to coordinate forces, integrate capabilities, and ensure freedom of action in any scenario.

Such activities strengthen Spain–Senegal cooperation and build technical skills for modern operations.
