An EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team) of the Spanish Army - under national operational control of the Operations Command - has led a cooperative security activity on explosive deactivation. This activity has been carried out together with the Senegalese National Gendarmerie for six weeks in Thiès.

This joint effort not only reinforces the operational capabilities of both forces, but also strengthens the cooperation and security ties between Spain and Senegal. These activities are part of the Defense Diplomacy Plan, constituting a fundamental pillar for regional stability and peace.

During the course of the activity, the Spanish military shared their experiences and knowledge with their Senegalese counterparts. The objective was to provide comprehensive training, ranging from search, detection and localization to investigation, access and neutralization of explosive threats. The aim is to ensure a rapid and effective response to possible incidents.

From the beginning, the team's reception by the Senegalese National Gendarmerie has been excellent, as they have shown great interest in improving their training and have constantly demonstrated discipline, teamwork and perseverance, essential virtues in the field of explosive deactivation. In addition, they have shown remarkable commitment and expertise, quickly assimilating the techniques and procedures taught. This training not only contributes to the improvement of individual instruction, but also strengthens the ability to work together.

The Defense Diplomacy Plan seeks to foster international cooperation and global security through, among others, cooperative security activities. Explosive deactivation training between military personnel from different nations is a clear example of how collaboration between states can lead to a more secure and stable environment. This program not only benefits Senegal's security forces, but also reinforces Spain's role as an ally committed to regional peace and security.
