The activation exercise of the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT), within the Spanish EUTM RCA XIII contingent has been successfully completed. This medical team is generated on the basis of the mission's ROLE 1 at Camp Moana, and is normally made up of Serbian medical personnel. This activity is part of the training cycle of the EUTM RCA mission (Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic) in Bangui.
Over the course of the exercise, the expertise and experience of the ROLE 1 EUTM RCA medical staff was demonstrated, and also, the ability of the medical team to respond and react to an incident involving injured personnel was assured.
European Union Mission in Central African Republic
The European Union Training Mission in Central African Republic (EUTM-RCA), a non-executive EU operation, it was launched on July 16th 2016 for a period of 2 years at the request of the Central African government, with the mission of advising both the strategic and operational levels, for the reconstruction of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) and cooperation with the structures of the Ministry of Defence to carry out their instruction, training and education.
The EUTM RCA mission is currently in its third mandate, which will end on September 19, 2022. Essentially, the objectives are aimed at defence sector reform, in close collaboration with other international missions, such as the United Nations Mission in the nation (MINUSCA), the European Union Delegation (EUDEL) and the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM), and are mainly focused on three areas or pillars: strategic advice, operational training and education and training.
