The Tactical Air Detachment 'Orion' participates in the "40th International Cross of Grand Bara".

- The Spanish contingent participated in both modalities of the cross country race, obtaining the second position in the 7km race.
The 49th contingent of the Tactical Air Detachment (DAT) 'Orion' took part in the 40th Grand Bara International Cross Country Run held in the Grand Bara desert of Djibouti.
This annual event, organised by the French Air Force, was attended by around 1,500 runners, including members of the various armed forces present in Djibouti and local athletes, in an atmosphere marked by the competitiveness and camaraderie of the runners.
The 15 km long race started at 06:15 am after a very low altitude run by a Mirage 2000D, followed by the 7 km short race at 06:45 am.
The representatives of the Spanish contingent achieved excellent results, with Lieutenant Marc Ponte Sanesteban finishing second in the short distance race.
Once the race was over, the pupils of the French Lycée de Djibouti school took pictures with the members of the Spanish contingent, showing a deep interest in the mission that the DAT Orion is currently carrying out.
With this type of event, Spain strengthens the ties of friendship and cooperation with the countries deployed in the area of operations, as well as its integration with Djibouti society.
