·         The ship is now in the final stretch of its integrated deployment in the European Union's naval force against piracy.

During a logistical stopover in the port of Salalah (Oman) and as part of an anti-piracy patrol in the  Horn of Africa waters, the frigate 'Victoria' has carried out various exercises with the ship 'Harusame' of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force.

The training was divided into two phases; a first phase in port, in which a joint boarding exercise was carried out. Afterwards, at sea, the second phase of the training was carried out, in which tactical evolution, flight, command and control, and communications exercises were executed.

The training between the frigate 'Victoria' - Commander Task Force 465 flagship  - and the Japanese ship 'Harusame' has been an excellent opportunity to reinforce the existing interoperability and cooperation between EUNAVFOR Operation Atalanta ships and aircraft and the units of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force, sharing the mission of preventing pirate attacks and ensuring maritime security in the area.

The frigate 'Victoria' is the second of the six frigates that make up the 41st Escort Squadron and the seventh ship in the history of the Spanish Navy to be named 'Victoria' in honour of the ship, captained by Juan Sebastián de Elcano, that completed the first round-the-world trip between 1519 and 1522.
