The frigate ‘Victoria’ conducts exercise with Korean Navy ship

·         The Spanish frigate conducts exercises together with the flagship of Operation Atalanta, the Italian Navy ship “Antonio Marceglia”

Within the framework of combined patrols against piracy along the coast of Somalia, the flagship “Antonio Marceglia” -Operation Atalanta- and the Spanish frigate “Victoria” have conducted exercises together with the Korean Navy ship “Kang Gam Chan”

In particular, several exercises regarding tactical evolutions, flight, command and control and a fast-rope insertion were conducted in a simulated scenario where a ship was putting up resistance to be boarded. In doing so, the perfect coordination and interoperability existing between the EUNAVFOR units and the Korean ship have been revealed.

The participation of the frigate “Victoria” in Operation Atalanta falls into the strong commitment shown by Spain to the European Union Common Security and Defence Policy (PCSD in Spanish), in terms of providing a comprehensive response of the European Union against piracy, contributing at the same time to international stability and security.
