“Canarias” frigate welcomes on board the Commander in charge of Atalanta Operation

·      Spanish Vice Admiral Antonio Martorell appreciates the work of the vessel personnel in the UE mission

The Commander of the Atalanta Operation, Spanish Vice Admiral Antonio Martorell has visited the “Canarias” frigate, integrated into the Atalanta Operation, which fights acts of piracy.

The Vice Admiral has expressed his recognition and gratitude to the vessel personnel and force on board. He has also highlighted the role of Spain and, specially, of the “Canarias” frigate, for its active collaboration and participation in the fight against piracy during these two months of deployment in Indian Ocean waters.   

The ‘Canarias’ frigate is performing its fifth guard within the operation zone and will continue navigating across the Indian Ocean till November, month in which the return journey to destination in national territory will begin. With its participation in missions such as Atalanta, the Spanish Armed Forces prove their commitment with the Security and Defence of Spain beyond our borders.
