  • The deployment of the 'Paznic' Detachment to Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in Romania has been concluded. There, the Eurofighters of the 14th Wing have carried out missions ranging from air surveillance to training exercises with allied countries, contributing to NATO's Flexible Deterrence Options (FDO).

This deployment has been encompassed within NATO's operations aimed at strengthening deterrence and defence on Europe's eastern flank, increasing its presence and emphasising the importance of continuous air surveillance to protect the airspace of allies.

During these two weeks, the 'Paznic' Detachment has conducted training exercises with F-16s from the Romanian Air Force (ROAF), Eurofighters from the British Royal Air Force (RAF), and F-18s and A400Ms deployed by the Air and Space Force in the Baltic Air Policing (BAP) in Lithuania. These exercises are a demonstration of our capability to adapt and cooperate with our allies in collective security and defence operations.

After the 'Paznic' Detachment's withdrawal, Spain's commitment to the security and surveillance of the airspace on NATO's eastern flank continues with the operations of the 'Vilkas' Detachment at Siauliai Air Base (Lithuania) and the TIGRU Detachment located in Schitu, Romania, reaffirming its position as a reliable and proactive ally in NATO's collective defence.
