The Spanish Air Tactical Detachment has been invited to participate in the commemoration of the Romania National Day. This participation consisted on a small part of the DAT Tigru personnel which was composed by a flag bearer and three escorts, taking part in the parade together among other NATO allied countries.
These celebration highlight the relevance of the National Day for all Romanians and the importance of having been invited to participate, a fact that strengthens the ties between the two countries, making the NATO union even stronger.
The Tigru Detachment began operations on October 15, 2022, participating in NATO's "eAP-RDR" operation. During its first year has contributed to the air defense of the Atlantic Alliance's eastern flank by deploying the operation and maintenance of the GRUMOCA (Mobile Air Control Group) AN/TPS-43M long-range tactical radar at the Black Sea shore.
During this time, more than 8,000 hours of surveillance over their responsibility airspace have been exceeded, guaranteeing the high availability of the system, as well as the proper integration of the radar data into the NATO Air Defense System, through the CRC (Control and Reporting Centre) Crystal, in Bucharest.
The Spain's strong commitment to this operation continues and the Tigru Detachment will keep fulfilling its mission in the future, to contribute the defense of this NATO region.
