Air Defence Unit in Estonia

NASAMS

Following the start of the Russian offensive in February 2022, the Alliance implemented Operation Persistent Effort.

This operation streamlined bilateral agreements with the Alliance's Eastern Flank countries to increase the Allied presence in the area. As a result, Estonia requested air defence assets from Spain and, in 2023, a NASAMS UDAA was deployed at Amari Air Base for four months.

Following a new request for support from Estonia, the Council of Ministers Agreement of December 2023 included the participation of a Spanish UDAA NASAMS during 4 months in 2024.
