The frigate F-104 'Méndez Núñez' stops in Taranto to attend the act of relief of the Chief of the Naval Grouping.

  •  The crew of the Spanish frigate has been present at the handover ceremony of the NATO SNMG2.
The frigate 'Méndez Núñez' (F-104) has called at the port of Taranto to attend the handover between the British Royal Navy and the Italian Navy as command of NATO's Permanent Naval Grouping No. 2. From now on, the command ship is the F590 'Carlo Bergamini'. The Spanish frigate will be under his command until 22 December, when it will return to its home port in the military arsenal of Ferrol.
 
With this act of relief, the British command of the grouping integrated in the Very High Readiness Maritime Force (VJTF-M) comes to an end after six months of intense activity on board HMS 'Duncan', Commodore Paul Stroude and his team bid farewell to the area of operations, although the British ship HMS 'Duncan' will remain in the Mediterranean until January 2024.
 
The frigate 'Méndez Núñez' continues its mission of presence and deterrence within the framework of Operation Noble Shield, where it will remain until it begins its return transit to national territory.
