Frigate 'Méndez Núñez' has called at the Souda Naval Base after two weeks of patrolling in the eastern Mediterranean where it continues to perform its mission of defence, presence and dissuasion in the framework of NATO's Operation 'Noble Shield'. During this period, training drills have also been conducted with the US Battle Group 'Gerald Ford', increasing the level of interoperability and training with units belonging to Atlantic Alliance countries.
On its entry into Souda, it was visited by Commodore Paul Stroude, a member of the British Royal Navy, who currently commands the SNMG-2 grouping from the Souda Naval Base with its units spread throughout the Mediterranean.
The 'Méndez Núñez' has been under the command of Commodore Paul Stroude since joining SNMG-2 on August 18th . It is scheduled to be relieved in December in the Italian port of Taranto, transferring command to the Italian Navy.
