Solemn hoisting of the Spanish Flag in Slovakia

The national flag is now flying at the Military Training Area (MTA) in Lešť alongside the flags of the other allied countries.

Solemn act of raising the Spanish flag in the parade ground of 'Camp Slavia I'. It was attended by a number of military authorities present at the MTA, including authorities from the host nation and all the heads of the units that form part of the multinational battlegroup with which the Spanish contingent shares facilities.

The military parade was attended by an honours Unit made up of deployed Spanish personnel, a representation of the multinational battle group. The 71st Mechanized Battalion "Siberian" from the Czech Republic, that includes Czech, Slovenian, Slovak and German soldiers, which is the base unit of the multinational battalion, also participated in the parade.

Following the military ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Martín Rodriguez, head of the Spanish contingent currently deployed in Lešť, greeted the military authorities in attendance, conveying Spain's firm commitment to our allies in providing forces and capabilities on the Alliance's eastern flank.

This act of hoisting the national flag demonstrates both the commitment of all members of the Armed Forces to serve Spain and all Spanish people, as well as Spain's commitment with our allies in the expansion of forces on the eastern flank of the Alliance.
