Guadarrama Brigade personnel redeploy to Latvia to consolidate ongoing commitment to our partners

• The eFP XIII contingent has taken command of the Spanish mission in Latvia, taking over from the troops deployed for the last 6 months.

Handover ceremony at Camp Adazi between the enhanced Forward Presence XII (eFP XII) contingent and the incoming eFP XIII contingent. Colonel Jose Francisco Sierra Corredor, from the Operations Command presided over the ceremony.

During the ceremony, the outgoing eFP XII personnel were decorated by the current head of the Latvian Mechanised Infantry Brigade, Colonel Sandris Gaugers, who highlighted the excellent relationship between the two units. Colonel Sandris bid farewell to the Spanish military, as this will be his last act as head of the Brigade due to his upcoming handover on 30 June.

During their deployment, the outgoing Spanish contingent took part in the various exercises held at the Adazi manoeuvre field, demonstrating a high level of training, involvement and dedication. They have also collaborated with other countries, which has allowed them to further increase the level of the Spanish troops deployed.

Once again, Spain is demonstrating its commitment to NATO, contributing to collective defence and reinforcing the security of our borders.
