Spanish military from the 'Aragón' Brigade takes over within NATO's mission in Latvia

  • The seventh rotation of the enhanced Forward Presence mission has taken over on Jan. 14th after six months of hard work

The Adazi base in Latvia has witnessed today the transfer of authority of the Spanish contingent within NATO’s  enhanced Forward Presence mission. Thus, troops from the ‘Guadarrama’ XII Brigade handed over to the ‘Aragón’ I Brigade, (eFP VIII) with headquarters located at St. Jorge Base in Zaragoza.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was held indoors with a short list of attendees. During the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Luis Maria Galvache Rodriguez, Head of the incoming contingent took over the Spanish eFP ensing from LTCol. Gregorio Piñero Echevarria head of the outgoing contingent.

Enhance Forward Presence is a multinational defensive mission in which Spain proves its commitment to NATO and to collective defence and shared security with our allies.
