The BRILIB XXXIX contingent, under the operational control of the Operations Command, has organized the donation of supply in three different locations in the Eastern Sector of UNIFIL commanded by General Luis Jesús Fernández Herrero.
Two deliveries have been done on the first day. The first of them consisted of 225 pair of shoes for men, women and children. This first supply has been received by Caritas in Kleyaa. The second delivery, which was 5 tonnes of feedstock, was dispatched to the Lebanon Ministry for Agriculture and Food in Blate. The Spanish contingent has also supplied with farming tools to the local coops on the second day.
The General Herrero and some UNIFIL personnel have attended the three different acts. The Lebanese local authorities have thanked for the solidarity shown towards its southern region population with these sorts of donations. They have also thanked the security which the Spanish troops contribute to the region with their presence.
On behalf of the “Sacred and Military Order of Saint George Foundation”, which is behind these contributions, its president, the Duke of Calabria, Pedro de Borbón-Dos Sicilias y de Orleans, was present.
With these activities, Spain shows its commitment to the local authorities and population, aiming to continue supporting the prosperity and stability of southern Lebanon.
