At the handover ceremony in Marjayoun, Lieutenant Colonel Miguel Angel Perez Franco, head of the Spanish battalion, stressed the wish that this material would be useful for the Lebanese Red Cross, which is doing a great job of helping, especially in primary care, in the populations in the area of responsibility of the Spanish battalion. Antoine Farhood, director of the Lebanese Red Cross in Marjayoun, thanked the Spanish UNIFIL contingent for the equipment.

The donation of sports equipment to the football club in the municipality of El Hebbariye consisted of sports clothing and balls, donated by the Granada FC Foundation and the Union Deportiva de Almeria.

At the handover, the head of the project team of the Spanish contingent's CIMIC unit, Lieutenant Pedro Paños, thanked the mayor for his collaboration in making this donation possible. He also pointed out that sport is a way to educate young people in values such as comradeship and teamwork. He highlighted the generosity of the football team from Granada and Almeria and thanked the entire population of El Hebbariye for the warm welcome they have given to the members of UNIFIL and in particular to the Spanish and Indian contingent from the beginning.

The mayor of El Hebbariye, Ayman Choukier, thanked the Spanish military of UNIFIL for the sports equipment received.

With the different programmes and activities, integrated in the UNIFIL mission carried out by Spain in this area, the commitment to support the Lebanese people and society is maintained, with the aim of contributing to peace and stability in Lebanon.
