The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Lebanon, Jesús Ignacio Santos Aguado, has paid his first official visit to the Spanish contingent of the BRILIB at the Miguel de Cervantes Base in Marjayoun.
On his arrival at the base he was received by General Melchor Marín Elvira, head of the Multinational Brigade of the Eastern Sector. After the ceremonial honours, he greeted the heads of unit and the General Headquarters staff.
The Ambassador was then given a briefing on the security situation in Sector East, which included aspects of the Civil-Military Cooperation activities and different cooperation programmes sponsored by Spain in Lebanon. This presentation was also attended by the UNIFIL Civil Affairs Officer for Sector East, Ewa Turick.
After the conference, the Ambassador visited an exhibition of engineering equipment, transmissions, and main tactical vehicles. He was then taken on a tour of the various facilities at the base, where he was shown the methods for the removal of vehicles in the event of an accident, the 3D spare parts printing workshop and the engineer unit's explosives detection techniques and dog expert capabilities.
