  • During the Christmas holidays, the Spanish troops played games and handed out gifts in different schools in the area.

The Spanish Brigade, part of the UNIFIL forces in Lebanon, has carried out activities in several schools in the area over the last week, as a show of solidarity and affection towards Lebanese children, with the aim of making them happier and framed within the Bachiller Samson Carrasco programme. Two of these schools have been the Al-Farah School Centre, located in Rabat Talateen and the Hasbaya Centre located in Suq Al Khan, both for children with special needs and also in the public school of Houla.

Interaction with the civilian population fosters mutual understanding and is a key component of UNIFIL's mission. For this purpose, different activities have been carried out: face painting, gifts and toys handed out by a burly Spanish Santa Claus, Spanish folk songs and Christmas songs in Arabic with the invaluable help of Benito, the Lebanese interpreter of the contingent. In addition, a cultural dance group from the Nepalese battalion also participated. The greatest satisfaction was to see the smiles and happiness reflected on the children's faces.

Through different programmes and activities, Spain confirms its commitment to support the Lebanese people and society, fostering development, promoting cultural exchange and improving the well-being of the population, thus contributing to peace and stability in Lebanon.
