Spanish, Serbian and Brazilian soldiers from the BRILIB-XXXI are awarded with the UNIFIL medal

·      The head of the UN mission in Lebanon has presided the ceremony and conferred the medals of honours to the contingent´s personnel

The members of the Brigade Lebanon-XXXI (BRILIB-XXXI) have been awarded with the medal of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), at a ceremony held in the esplanade “Don Quijote”, located in the “Miguel de Cervantes” Base in Marjayoun.

The Force Commander and Head of Mission of UNIFIL, the Major General Stefano Del Col of Italy, has presided the military ceremony, also attended by the Spanish Ambassador in Lebanon, José María Ferré de la Peña, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanon Army deployed south of the Litani river, the Brigadier general Roger Helou.

After awarding the medals, the General Del Col outlined the excellent work carried out by BRILIB soldiers and also stressed the efforts done by all the UNIFIL members for the sake of peace and stability in the south of the country.

The BRILIB, mostly composed by members of the Brigade “Guadarrama” XII (known as “the Armoured one”), is deployed since May in the area of responsibility of the UNIFIL´s Sector East, and is under the command of the Brigadier general Rafael Colomer Martínez del Peral. It is formed by several members from different nationalities, together with Spanish personnel from diverse units.
