The Spanish contingent deployed in Mali funds health and security improvements at a school in Bamako

Local authorities have officially welcomed this improvement in the quality of life of nearly 500 students and teachers.

The Spanish contingent of the European Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali) has developed a quick impact project at the ADF School Group in the Dielibougou district of Bamako. The school has almost 500 students aged 6 to 12 years old.

The upgrades consisted of repairing the school gates to prevent intrusion, renovating the school's toilets and upgrading the drinking water supply to ensure a regular flow of water.

Thanks to the completion of this project, several hundred pupils can continue their school activities in a safer atmosphere and with better hygienic and sanitary conditions.

It is not only the school's teaching staff who are satisfied with the work of the EUTM Mali Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) unit. A letter of thanks was received at mission HQ from the director of the Centre d'Animation Pédagogique de l'Academie d'Enseignement de Bamako Rive Gauche (the teaching academy on the left bank of Bamako), on behalf of the Minister of National Education, thanking him for the improvements made to the ADF school group.

At the handover ceremony, Colonel Emilio Gonzalez Vega noted the ongoing commitment of the Spanish military to "the school in particular and to Malian society in general".

Thanks to actions such as this, the Spanish Armed Forces promote economic and social development and the well-being of the population, as well as facilitating the interaction of our soldiers with Malian society.
