The Secretary of State for Defence visits Spanish troops deployed in Mali

·       Ángel Olivares has been accompanied by the Chief of the Operations Command and the Chief of the Technical Cabinet of the Minister of Defence

Ángel Olivares, Secretary of State for Defence, has visited the soldiers deployed in the European Union Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali).

The Secretary has gotten into the area together with the Chief of the Operations Command, Lieutenant General Fernando López del Pozo, and the Chief of the Technical Cabinet of the Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Miguel Ángel Villarroya Villalta.

During their stay, they have visited the Mission Headquarters facilities in Bamako and the Instruction Centre in Koulikoro, where they have checked some of the activities conducted by Spanish troops.

The short time available has not interfered with visiting one of the latest Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) projects developed in the school of Fegoun, next to Koulikoro. There, the Secretary of State has shared some precious moments with children and teachers of this school, which was built thanks to Spain.

Moreover, Olivares has also checked functioning of the Aid System for Personnel and Security System for Military Personnel Deployed in Overseas Operations Areas (SAPZO in Spanish),

In short, it has been a journey where Spanish troops deployed in operations have had the chance to make known their daily work to ensure international stability as well as security and defence for all Spaniards from these lands of Africa.
