JFC Naples receives the visit of the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Spain to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)

  • During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed to the Spanish contingent the support and recognition of the H.M. the King and the Minister of Defence for the work carried in this Joint Command.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of NATO's presence in Italy, an event was held last week at the JFC Naples Headquarters with the assistance of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and the Deputy Secretary General of the Alliance Mircea Geoană. By the end of the ceremony, the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Spain to NATO, Miguel Ángel Fernández-Palacios Martínez, met with the Spanish contingent in Naples.

The meeting was also attended by the Spanish General Consul in Naples, Carlos Maldonado Valcárcel and was held in the Headquarters main conference room. At this meeting, the Ambassador conveyed to the Spanish contingent the support and recognition of the H.M. the King and the Minister of Defence for the work carried in this Joint Command. In addition, he was also able to talk with those present and learn first-hand about their activities in this Headquarters.

The Spanish contingent in Naples, under the management of its “Senior”, Rear Admiral Alfonso Delgado Moreno, is made up of 61 men and 6 women belonging to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Military Legal Corps and the Civil Guard.

NATO Headquarters in Naples is one of the three Operational-level Joint-Combined Force Commands that NATO has within its Command structure.  Its mission is to prepare for, plan and conduct military operations in order to preserve the peace, security and territorial integrity of Alliance member states. During 2021, it also serves as the Command Headquarters of the “NATO Response Force” (NRF).
