The new Spanish Chief of Defence Staff Arrives to Defence Staff Headquarters

• After taking the oath of office at the Ministry of Defence, Admiral General Teodoro López Calderón has moved to Defence Staff Headquarters

Admiral General Teodoro López Calderón was welcomed today as new CHOD at the Defence Staff Headquarters in Madrid.

After the swearing-in ceremony at the Ministry of Defence, Admiral López Calderón has moved to Vitruvio St., where he was saluted by members of his Staff.

The Admiral was appointed Chief of Defence Staff last Tuesday.

Born in Cartagena on May 3rd, 1954, Admiral General López Calderón joined Navy in 1973 and has a wide experience on the international field and operations.

His embarked assignments include command of NATO Standing Group 2 (SNMG2), as well as command of the 41st Escort Squadron, frigate 'Cataluña' and the 2nd Minesweeping Squadron.

His assignments ashore include the position of Admiral Chief of Staff of the Navy (AJEMA in Spanish) and Commander of the Operations Command (CMOPS in Spanish).
