Armed Forces Day 2023

Granada and Motril
Cartel DIFAS 2023

The Armed Forces Day is a gathering day for Spaniards, both civilians and military personnel, whose aim is to increase awareness of the Armed Forces, in accordance with the provisions of the Spanish Constitution and the spirit of our Royal Ordinances.

It is also a day to recognise the work of the military who are far from their homeland, in operations abroad or integrated in the permanent operations of surveillance, security and presence in our areas of interest. We should also acknowledge those who continue to serve our homeland, displaying values such as the spirit of service, discipline and sense of duty.

Our military personnel demonstrate Spain's commitment to international peace and security on a daily basis. They participate with our allies in deterrence and security tasks and promote stability in countries in circumstances of conflict. They also support those governments who lack the capabilities to achieve the security necessary for their societies to develop their full potential in full freedom and normality.

Armed Forces Day was first celebrated in 1978 when it was decided to hold an institutional event to pay tribute to the Army and Navy and to promote knowledge and their integration into society.

Granada and Motril will host the commemorative events for Armed Forces Day on 31 May, 1, 2 and 3 June.
