The Chief of Defence (JEMAD), Admiral General Teodoro Esteban López Calderón, has received his Serbian counterpart, General Milan Mojsilovic, during his official visit to Spain to discuss about the participation of both countries in international missions, as well as to get to know the infrastructures and resources of the Spanish Armed Forces.
First, both leaders held a meeting at the General Headquarters of the Defence Staff (EMAD in Spanish). They also participated in conferences on the organisation and missions of the Spanish Armed Forces, and on the force development process.
The Chief of Defence explained that, during the various activities that took place, they delved into the principles of national defence and the functional and operational structure of the Spanish Armed Forces, as well as their fundamental role in maintaining the stability and security of our country and of our allies.
General Mojsilovic also visited the Operations Command (MOPS in its Spanish acronym), where he was accompanied by the Chief of Defence and the Commander of the Operations Command (CMOPS in its Spanish acronym), Lieutenant General José Antonio Agüero Martínez. During the visit he was able to see the infrastructures and continue to learn more about the deployment of the force in the framework of international organisations, as well as in the field of Spain's defence diplomacy.
During the visit to MOPS, the Serbian Chief of Defence, General of the Serbian Armed Forces held a video conference with General Guillermo Garcia del Barrio, Head of the UNIFIL Eastern Sector Brigade, and the Lieutenant Colonel Head of the Serbian contingent deployed in Lebanon, to inquire about the specific situation in Lebanon.
Finally, General Mojsilovic travelled to the Getafe Air Base, where he was received by Colonel Carlos Sánchez Bas. There he attended a static display of personnel and equipment, including the C-295 aircraft.
