Chief of Defence Staff (JEMAD in Spanish), admiral Teodoro Esteban López Calderón, addressed to students of the XLIV National Defence Course the lecture 'The Spanish Armed Forces in the 21st Century'.
ESP CHOD shared his vision with the students about our Armed Forces, their evolution, and the environment in which they will have to operate, in the medium and long term.
During his conference, he pointed out that in the current and foreseeable strategic environment, with a particular focus in 2035, Spain has to face an uncertain scenario, with multiple and complex risks and threats to our security.
Therefore, he concluded that we need dynamic, flexible and ever-changing armed forces that can adapt to rapidly evolving risks and threats.
After the lecture, held at the Centre for National Defence Studies (CESEDEN is Spanish), a forum was opened in which the students had the opportunity to ask questions to the ESP CHOD.
The purpose of the National Defence Course is to provide a general vision of the defence culture to civil leaders in our society and, among its students, national legislators, State administration offcials, professionals from the academic field, representatives of industry and professionals of social media, among others.
