The Military School of Cyber Operations (EMCO) of the Joint Cyber Command (MCCE) has launched a new Basic Course in Cyber Operations (CBECO) for enlisted soldiers and sailors.

The opening ceremony took place at the School of Command, Control and Telecommunications Techniques (EMACOT) at the Cuatro Vientos base (Madrid), whose support in making its facilities available enables EMCO to deliver its training programmes. The ceremony was attended by military authorities and the teaching staff, who welcomed the 22 selected students.

During his address, the MCCE’s second-in-command, Major General Federico Juste, emphasised the paramount importance of the technical training of military personnel in order to fulfil their mission of protecting cyberspace. He also urged the students to respond with commitment and dedication to the demanding training challenge they now face.

For her part, the director of EMCO, Lieutenant Colonel Loreto Carrasco, addressed the future specialists to emphasise the great value of the skills they will acquire throughout the curriculum. In her speech, she highlighted the need to assimilate this knowledge so that it can subsequently be applied practically and effectively in their respective professional roles.

The training will run over the next two months and will equip members of the infantry and naval ranks with the tactical and operational tools needed to operate in the digital environment. Through this initiative, the Joint Cyberspace Command is strengthening its defensive structure by ensuring the ongoing training of its personnel.

The event ended with a group photo of the event's leadership, the head of the Cuatro Vientos Air Base, Colonel Antonio Bermejo; the director of EMACOT, Colonel Francisco José Pablo; the teaching and support staff of EMCO; and the students of CBECO.
