The Military School of Cyber Operations (EMCO) of the Joint Cyber Command (MCCE) has launched the 2026/2027 academic year at a ceremony held at the School of Command, Control and Telecommunications Techniques (EMACOT) at Cuatro Vientos Air Base (Madrid).
The event also marked the start of the first academic programmes. A total of 132 students will be trained, spread across the basic specialisation courses in cyber operations for officers, non-commissioned officers and MTMs, in addition to the workshops for officers to obtain their second-level specialisation.
The opening ceremony was presided over by the commander of the MCCE, Vice-Admiral Javier Roca, who emphasised the importance to the Command of ensuring its personnel are properly prepared to fulfil the mission of protecting cyberspace. In this regard, he encouraged the students to make the most of this training opportunity and reminded them that it is their own efforts that will determine whether they can rise to the challenge they are now embarking upon.
The Basic Specialisation Courses are designed to provide students with further training in line with the requirements of the fifth domain.
All of them will undergo a period of intensive training during which they will acquire and refine practical skills in the field of cyberspace. To this end, they will receive technical training in the main types of cyber operations, which will enable them to familiarise themselves with national and international doctrine, as well as with the applicable legal framework. The courses are scheduled to end in mid-December.
