The Navy petty officer gets another victory alongside her teammate Paula González, rounding off a season full of successes

Navy Sergeant Alejandra Vicens, posted to the Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE), has been crowned champion of the Spanish Vaurien Class Sailing Cup at a regatta held on the Barrios de Luna reservoir in León, in which nearly 40 boats took part.

Sergeant Vicens, who has competed under the colours of the Spanish Navy’s Regatta Commission, teamed up with Paula González Esteban from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. Both competitors have got victory after fighting their way back from fourth place and overcoming adverse conditions that led to the cancellation of some of the races due to an orange alert for storms and hail.

The MCCE member’s victory brings the 2026 season – one marked by successes in the Vaurien class – to a close. These include the Spanish Championship, the Spanish Cup and the recent World Championship won in Germany, all of which she achieved alongside her teammate Paula González.

As part of other crews, he has added to this list of achievements with a third-place finish in the National Military Championship in the Snipe class; first place in the Conde de Godó Trophy; and second place in the Copa del Rey, both whilst sailing on the Spanish Navy’s yacht Hispania.

Assigned to the MCCE’s Institutional Relations Office, Sergeant Vicens embodies the values of loyalty, perseverance, ingenuity and skill that characterise her unit’s work. Her brilliant sporting career, built on a spirit of hard work, sacrifice and personal improvement – qualities she also demonstrates in her professional life – is a source of pride for both the MCCE and the Navy, and serves as an inspiration to all personnel in the Armed Forces.
