The representative from the Command takes part in the panel discussion ‘Cybersecurity and security forces and agencies: Staying Ahead of Cybercrime’
The Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) took part in the round-table discussion ‘Cybersecurity and security forces Agencies: Anticipating Cybercrime’, as part of the ‘5th Conference on Cybersecurity at Sea’, held in Málaga.
In his speech, the MCCE’s Institutional Relations Adviser, Commander (Ret.) Enrique Pérez de Tena, pointed out that “we are dealing with 19th-century organisations, with a 20th-century mindset, which are attempting to solve 21st-century problems. We are not playing by the same rules as cybercriminals; they simply have no rules”.
As he explained, “Spain has made considerable progress in the field of cybersecurity, but it is essential to continue investing and raising awareness amongst the weakest link: people”.
The Command’s representative discussed the new threats in the field of cybersecurity, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Antonio García, the Civil Guard’s liaison officer at EUROPOL; David Rojo, from the investigation team of the Judicial Police Unit at the Civil Guard Command in Málaga; and Antonio Fernández, a trainer specialising in security forces and agencies and an independent hacker.
The event was organised by the Official Association of Technical Telecommunications Engineers of Andalusia (COITTA) and the Andalusian Association of Graduates and Engineers in Specific Technologies and Telecommunications (AAGIT),
Among its key topics, it has addressed cybersecurity management in sectors such as healthcare, banking, public administration and defence.
