Over a period of four weeks, a team of five Spanish military personnel from the 11th ‘España’ Cavalry Regiment, based in Zaragoza, has delivered a tactical planning course for the first time to 19 officers from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).

The aim of this training activity was to explore in greater depth the procedures and tools used for the analysis, preparation and conduct of operations at the tactical level.

Throughout the training programme, the Spanish instructors have shared their experience and expertise with members of the Lebanese Army, combining theoretical content, practical exercises and opportunities for professional exchange.

The structure of the sessions has enabled participants to work progressively through the various stages of the planning process, to encourage critical analysis and to strengthen coordination within the working groups. The commitment shown by students and trainers has helped to create a dynamic, participatory environment focused on shared learning.

Beyond its academic objectives, the course has provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties between the Spanish Army and the Lebanese Army. This experience highlights the value of joint training as a means of sharing knowledge, improving interoperability and strengthening cooperation between the two armies.

These training activities are carried out within the framework of the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L), which was established in March 2024 and comprises a group of countries — including Spain — whose main objective is to coordinate their efforts to enhance the efficiency and operational capability of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).
