Comillas Pontifical University visits Eurocorps In Strasbourg, France

• Students on the dual degree programme in International Relations and International Communication visited the Headquarters as part of an academic programme in Strasbourg

Eurocorps has welcomed a visit from International Relations students from the Pontifical University of Comillas. At the Headquarters in Strasbourg, the Head of the Planning Division of the Eurocorps General Staff, General Carlos Castrillo, welcomed the 31 students and two lecturers who made up the university delegation travelling from Madrid. He was able to exchange views with them and address their initial queries about this military organisation, which is currently led by Spain through Lieutenant General Aroldo Lázaro.

Next, the Public Affairs and Communications Office gave a more detailed presentation on the missions, tasks and operations of Eurocorps. As outlined in the presentation, this command and control structure, with a dual function, serves both the European Union and NATO; and plays an increasingly significant role in European defence. At the end, there was an extensive exchange of views between the International Relations students and the European military personnel, before the day concluded with a tour of the Eurocorps facilities.

All in all, these meetings help to bring closer and provide visibility to the Eurocorps amongst Spanish academic institutions, so that future professionals in international relations and communication can broaden their understanding of the effort and commitment required for European security and defence. In addition to this visit to the headquarters, the students continued their programme with various visits to European and international organisations based in Strasbourg.
