The Joint Cyberspace Command (MCCE) has concluded its participation in ‘Cyber Europe 2026’, organised over two days by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). This biennial international exercise, now in its eighth edition, is the continent’s largest cyber crisis management simulation and has as its primary objective the assessment of the resilience of Europe’s critical infrastructure in the face of highly complex, cross-border incidents.

This year’s scenario centred on the transport sector, with a particular focus on the rail and maritime sectors. During the two days of training, MCCE specialists faced high-intensity simulated cyber incidents that compromised the continuity of essential services, requiring the activation of early warning mechanisms, advanced technical analysis and immediate response protocols.

This exercise provided the MCCE with a key opportunity to consolidate the integration of its cyber defence capabilities with civilian digital protection structures. The complexity of current threats in cyberspace has required close and seamless collaboration between national CSIRTs, operators of essential services and the Armed Forces, ensuring an effective transfer of information for decision-making in situations of widespread crisis.

Participation in ‘Cyber Europe 2026’ has enabled the MCCE to reaffirm its commitment to high-level training in order to strengthen its role as the guarantor of the Armed Forces’ freedom of action in cyberspace.
